A City Built to Rise, and Still Climbing
Phoenix’s story starts with ingenuity. The ancient Hohokam people carved more than 135 miles of irrigation canals into the desert, laying the foundation for one of the most vibrant cities in the Southwest.
Modern settlement took shape in 1867 when Jack Swilling and Lord Darrell Duppa established an agricultural community at the meeting point of the Salt and Gila Rivers. Inspired by rebirth, they named it “Phoenix.” By 1881, it was incorporated as a city, and in 1889, it became the capital of the Arizona Territory.
Statehood followed in 1912, securing Phoenix’s role as the heart of Arizona. Today, with a population of over 1.6 million, it is the fifth-largest city in the United States. It is a hub of growth, diversity, and innovation.
At All Aboard America, we are proud to support that momentum. When Phoenix moves, we move with it.
